We're obsessed with marble! Timeless and elegant, this project used leathered Statuario Extra marble with a 2.5" miter to span a 14' island plus a 3' drop.
All of our miters include a plywood subtop, and we are able to inset brackets into the subtop if and where required. Brackets are typically 1/2" thick steel which means they are rigid and durable.
Hate the look of plywood? No problem, we can reverse the miter on the underside and run the stone all the way back to and under your cabinet.
Marble is a different animal than many of the other stone surfaces out there, and if you are considering it, please be aware of how it likes to (mis)behave! A calcitic stone by nature, it will scratch and etch, developing a patina much like wood that is worn over time. This adds to its beauty but is not for everyone! So please don't be afraid to ask if you have any questions, and we will send you some info sheets about it.
